NG2 & Bordering areas - Contact us to see if we can help.
My name is Jasmyne and I am the owner of Big Bear.
As a proud dog owner I have over 20 years experience of handling and raising dogs, particularly large & working breeds.
Before setting up Big Bear I worked a 60 hour week as a Social Worker and tried a number of services for my own dogs. I tried Pet Sitters, local Dog Walkers & Doggy Day Care. With each service I found they never hit the right balance of fun, exercise, time with other dogs and most importantly I worried about where they were and if they were safe.
As for most people the Covid-19 pandemic created a space to re-evaluate my priorities and I used the time to add further animal care qualifications to my belt. In 2020 I handed in my notice and Big Bear was born!
Initially Big Bear started as a traditional Dog Walking service but with the rise of pet thefts and reports of attacks it soon became clear to me that I could provide a safer service. ALL group sessions are held in privately rented, purpose built, Dog Walking fields.
We regularly hold themed parties, doggy football matches and even doggy bbq’s in the summer!
In 2023 Olivia joined us full time, we added a second van, a handy man and Sammy came on board to help at weekends. The team are provided with training & development opportunities to ensure we consistently. develop and expand our knowledge to provide the best service possible.
As we now venture into 2024 we are beyond proud to be voted one of the top 3 dog walking services in Nottingham. A finalist for The Animal Star Awards 'Dog Walker of The Year' and Shortlisted for the 2024 Rising Star Award with Business Awards UK.
All dogs are carefully assessed for their suitability - Where I am not able to match your dog to a group I will do my best to assist you to find another service/ trainer.
*Please be aware that all puppies will start in the Little Bears group - larger breed puppies will slowly be transitioned to the Big Bear Group when they are ready, depending on confidence, socialisation skills and size.
* Group walking is not suitable for all dogs, nor is it a replacement/ training option for dogs. Group walking should be an addition to a dogs routine of lead walking, training & development.
Acceptable Behaviour Rules
Big Bear aims to provide. safe and enjoyable space for all its clients dogs.
In order to maintain this all dogs must consistently present with social behaviours.
Dogs will be removed from the group immediately if any of the following concerns are raised:
- Persistently hump others (or other sexual behaviours such as genital licking and/ or sniffing that irritates other dogs).
- Obsess over particular dogs to a degree that causes tension or stress between dogs.
- Show aggressive behaviour towards other dogs or people
- Are possessive over treats/ toys to a degree that causes tension or stress between dogs or poses a risk to people
- Frequently soil the van with urine and or faeces.
